Pumpkin patches are few and far between here in South Florida. After living in Massachusetts and New Jersey for several years, it is impossible to find one that even comes close to comparing to the pumpkin patches there...but, alas, we are not in Massachusetts or New Jersey, so we will take what we get and be happy about it, right? Right.
Last year, we found a little gem called Bedner's Farm Fresh Market that had a cute pumpkin patch, but we made the mistake of visiting on a weekend and it was packed. This year I wasn't going to make the same mistake. While the full "fall festival" experience is missed by not attending on the weekends, you can still pick pumpkins, walk the corn maze and go on a "hayride" through the farm on weekdays.
We did all of the above and we had fun, but do you want to know what the real highlight of the trip was? Spotting a baby alligator during our hayride. You definitely won't see that at a New England pumpkin patch.
